Second report in as many days suggests games are becoming major focus of cyber-crime
The evidence that online games are increasingly becoming the primary target of fraudsters and criminals has been backed up by a report out yesterday by Kaspersky Labs lured by the promise of "easy money" and an eager customer base for items on the black market.
The report highlights the current risks facing online gamers including what is increasingly becoming known as 'spear-phishing', trojans that attack vulnerabilities within the games servers and last but not least, keyloggers.
According to the report, 40 per cent of all trojans are aimed at Lineage 2 with Blizzard's World of Warcraft being the second most popular target with 20 per cent of all known trojans aimed at extracting information from its players.
As reported by PC Retail yesterday, Computer Associates also recently identified online gaming as a key growth area in cyber-crime.

My wow acc got hacked yesterday for example was a trojan @ this exact laptop :(
Same thing happened to my wife.
All her characters' high value enchanted articles were taken from her bank accounts and what was in their possession. Now one of her characters (an enchanter) is wearing only a pair of boxers!
You can only blame yourself for being dumb and giving your information out to powerlevelers and gold farming companies. Also, dont blame other people for you not have sufficient network security. Just because you spent $50 for a home router and didnt bother to properly set it up isnt Blizzards fault. Lern2internet n00bs!!

Whilst I'm sure Mac's are lovely, the major reason they are more secure is because they represent a tiny proportion of the pc market, and thus are not worth the effort for hackers, who can attack something like eight times as many computers if they write Viruses, Trojans, etc. aimed at MS based pc's.
nasty stuff, well suggest you take a look at BullGuard Software's gaming security suite, designed for gamers, has security profiles for these games, its quite a nice product, great support if you ned help as well
Completely agree dude, Get a MAC, get one now! The argument that MAC's are not targeted due to market share size is a tired old prejudiced wives tale that is simply not true any more! MAC's are targeted but they are also very secure, look at market data for Apple Mac desktop, and notebook sales to see how fast their market share is growing. They simply make the best performing hardware Now that is FACT, backed up by current global sales statistic's.

Im pretty sure your apple cant touch my quad core beast - not only have i got 1.5gig of graphics memory and 4gig of 800mhz RAM but it cost less than any ponsey mac!
