Wedge and Sculpt with Microsoft's latest peripherals

Both devices connect wirelessly to tablets, laptops and PCs

Travel-sized wireless keyboard and mouse are designed for Windows 7 and 8 users on the go

Microsoft has released the Wedge – a wireless compact keyboard designed to travel alongside a tablet – and the Sculpt mobile mouse, which is built for fast Windows 8 navigation.

The Wedge works with iPads and Android devices, but is primarily designed for Windows 7 and tablets running Windows 8. When used with Windows 8 devices, the keyboard’s hotkeys can be used to search, flick between windows and control music and videos. The symbolic Windows key is also present, meaning that Windows 8’s Start screen can quickly be opened.

The Wedge is light and slim, and has a full-sized soft-touch keyboard.

The keyboard connects via Bluetooth and doesn’t require a dongle, meaning that it avoids tangled wires and can be moved around easily.

A travel cover comes with the Wedge which, as well as protecting, can be snapped onto the keyboard in order to automatically power it down and save battery life. When removed, the cover can also be used as a stand for a tablet, such as Microsoft’s Surface.

Like the Wedge, the Sculpt mouse features the iconic Windows logo, allowing users to access the Metro Start screen or Windows 7’s Start menu quickly.

Navigation is also provided by the mouse’s four-way scroll wheel, which can be tilted left and right to scroll horizontally. The mouse is compact, designed for travelling and uses BlueTrack technology, which Microsoft says means it can be used on nearly any surface.

The mouse connects wirelessly via a mini USB dongle, is powered by a single AA battery and supports Windows 8, Windows RT and Windows 7. It is available in a range of colours, including black, Wool Blue, Light Orchid and Flame Red.
