It's time to go to war
EA’s hotly anticipated shooter has been long pitched as rival to Activision’s world-beating Call of Duty franchise.
The title certainly made waves at this year’s games trade show E3, winning over 40 awards worldwide.
Players step into the role of the elite US Marines as they tear around the globe in various missions. Locations include Paris, Tehran and New York City.
EA claims that: “In the field, periods of tension and anticipation are punctuated by moments of complete chaos. As bullets whiz by, as walls crumble, as explosions force players to the ground, the battlefield feels more alive and interactive than ever before.”
It’s this level of interactivity, particularly with regards to destructible environments, that’s been hailed as a real selling point for the game,
Multiplayer wise, Battlefield 3 delivers ten co-op maps and multiple modes.
“The core development team has been together since 2005. We’ve grown together, taken some knocks together and now, we’re ready to take first person shooters to a whole new level, together,” says Patrick Bach, executive producer. “Like so many gamers out there, we’ve had some pretty wild ideas about what we’d want to see in a shooter. Until now, it was all just fantasy. But with Frostbite 2, even our most far-reaching ideas are becoming a reality. This is the game we’ve always wanted to create.”
As well as the game itself there is a range of branded peripherals available to stock, such as that available from Turtle Beach.
If you’re looking for something a little leftfield, Origin Publishing is releasing a Battlefield 3 novel by Bravo Two Zero author Andy McNab and co-author Peter Grimsdale.
