AV distributor Midwich has announced the acquisition of Bauer und Trummer GmbH, who trade as New Media – a distributor of broadcast and professional video products based in Germany.
Predominantly serving the German, Austrian and Swiss (DACH) market, in addition to a select number of other European markets. Joint founders and managing directors Johannes Bauer and Tobias Trummer will continue to lead New Media as part of the Group.
Headquartered in Nuremberg, the distributor is a specialises in broadcast and professional video products including cameras, recording hardware, editing software and accessories. Key vendors include Blackmagic Design, Livestream and Vitec, with New Media revealing recorded unaudited revenue of €21m in 2017.
The acquisition enables MIdwich entry into the DACH broadcast and professional video market and New Media is believed to be the leading distributor of this technology in the region. After the successful purchase of Holdan Limited in the UK in 2016, the acquisition underlines the Midwich Group’s investment in broadcast technology, which continues to converge with the traditional AV market covered in Germany by Kern & Stelly Medientechnik GmbH.
MIdwich says the transaction is further delivery of its strategy to grow operations through a combination of organic development and selective acquisitions.
