Google owned video supersite YouTube announced the addition of a new tool to convert 2D videos into 3D.
"Creating 3D videos was pretty tough before. You had to set up two cameras, combine the footage from each, and use special software to make the effect look just right," wrote YouTube product boss Shenaz Zack Mistry on the YouTube blog.
"Once you’ve uploaded your 2D videos to YouTube, you can convert them to 3D with the click of a button. Converted videos will be viewable by everyone in 3D," added Mistry.
He went on to say that best results would come from a 3D camera. Viewers of the 3D content will most likely need glasses depending on their 3D viewing hardware.
YouTube also announced that "verified users in good standing" will have their 15-minute video restriction lifted. To help get longer uploads online, YouTube also recently unveiled resumable uploads so that any connection mishaps will not require uploading the whole video again.
