With the impending shutdown of Windows Server 2003 (WS03), Annodata predicts that it could help to drive G-Cloud sales.
The managed print services company believes that public sector organisations may be able to improve the efficiency of their business by migrating to the cloud.
Sales figures from G-Cloud have revealed that local government purchases through the G-Cloud framework rose to £2.47 million in March – up 28 per cent on the previous month.
But, G-Cloud has seen an overall fall in sales across government organisations.
Recent figures from the Cloud Industry Forum have also revealed that 60 per cent of public sector organisations are still running WS03, which Annodata says will help to drive cloud sales.
Andrew Smith, head of professional services at Annodata, said: “G-Cloud sales seem to have stagnated, and in spite of a slight increase in uptake within local government, the framework hasn’t yet been as successful as many had hoped.
“But with Windows Server 2003 finally coming to the end of its shelf life in a few months, and a significant proportion of public sector organisations still using the operating system, we expect things to turn around.”
