Gaming-focused Android box is 'a console of the future', says CEO

Razer announces Android TV micro-console

Razer has announced a new Android TV-powered micro-console.

The new device will be built on Google’s recently announced Android TV platform, and will include support for movie streaming, music and other apps, with a focus on gaming.

The micro-console will be able to be navigated with a dedicated mobile app for Android tablets and smartphones.

As with all Android TV devices, the micro-console will support voice control for navigation and search functionality.

“This is a console of the future,” commented Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder and CEO.

“Built on Google’s incredible Android TV platform, the Razer micro-console incorporates not only hardcore and casual gaming, but music, movies and other entertainment and social applications, all on an affordable system.”

The Razer design team developing the Razer micro-console is the same team behind the Razer Blade and Blade Pro laptops, the Razer Edge gaming tablet and the modular PC prototype, Project Christine.

The Razer micro-console is scheduled for a release later this year.
