Man tried to smuggle iPhone 6 and 5S models into China

Man caught at Chinese border with 94 iPhones strapped to him

A man attempting to cross the Chinese border with 94 iPhones strapped to him has been detained.

The Hong Kong man was caught at the Futian crossing in Shenzhen, where custom officials were suspicious of his strange walk.

After searching through his belongings and finding nothing, officials asked the man to walk through a metal detector, which caused the alarm to go off.

According to a Chinese news report, officials discovered 94 iPhone 6 and iPhone 5S models that were strapped to his legs, torso and groin, with an estimated value of $49,000 (£32,462).

Although the phones are available for purchase in Apple stores in China, the rate for the iPhone 6 was thousands of dollars.

It is unclear where the iPhones were originally purchased from.
