£199 for a tiny printer? It is cute...

Little Printer now available for pre-order, with interesting price tag

Little Printer, which made such a big splash online when it was announced last November, is now available for pre-order.

You can purchase what is potentially the world’s cutest printer at the BERG cloud shop, where the starter pack comes with a £199 price tag. Is that a touch high for something a little bit reminiscent of a Game Boy printer, or is it about what you should expect for an innovative device that puts the personal into printing?

Let’s go back to the beginning of this story. When Little Printer was announced late last year, the video introducing it received a whopping 500,000 views in its first five days, whilst 60,000 people signed up for news on the device.

As we reported in November, the printer produces personal feeds for users. According to BERG you can:

  • Subscribe to publications like news headlines, puzzles, and your friends’ birthdays from publishers including foursquare, Google, and the Guardian
  • Receive printed, direct messages from your friends via Little Printer
  • Choose from one of four characters to bring your daily news. Little Printer prints its own face!

The Starter Pack includes: Little Printer, BERG Cloud Bridge, international power supplies, cables and replacement paper.

The firm says orders are first come, first served. "The first run is big but fixed-size to warm up the factories, and ships 60 days from pre-orders opening on 14 August. The second run is the start of regular production!"
