Exertis appoints new director

Leading distributor Exertis has announced a new director. Promoted from within the ranks, Ian Aitken has been promoted to the role of AV director. With big shoes to fill, Aitken takes on the leadership role at Exertis Medium following the departure of Ian Sempers, the founder and owner of Medium UK, which was acquired by Exertis last year. Responsible for sales and commercial operations, Aitken will report to Exertis IT sales and commercial director Phil Brown at the company’s new facility at Stockley Park, London.

‘Excited’ to get to work, Aitken said he is looking forwards to working with the team. "I am excited by the opportunity,” he said. “We have an excellent team combining the strengths of two well established AV companies that can provide our customers with business continuity, technical expertise and a portfolio of leading vendors with products and solutions that can cater for the requirements of AV specialist resellers and IT resellers that have an AV proposition.”

Paul Bryan, Exertis UK managing director added: “Firstly I would like to thank Ian Sempers for his contribution and professionalism in conducting a seamless integration of the business. There is no doubt that he has been instrumental in combining our existing AV business with that of Medium to create a dynamic, high growth division which will be a key part of the Exertis proposition moving forward.

“We wish Ian Sempers all the best for the future and at the same time congratulate Ian Aitken on his promotion. Ian has built a successful AV division at Exertis over the last six years, establishing key relationships with vendors and customers, and demonstrating excellent leadership skills.”

Commenting on his decision to stand down, Sempers said: “It is now time to hand over the reigns to enable me to concentrate on other interests and opportunities. I wish Exertis the best of luck with their future.”
