Amazon to print gaming figures in its 3D products store

Amazon has revealed that customers can now get their hands on their favourite figurines from games in its 3D Printed Products store.

Customers are able to personalise more than 35 characters from Smite, Primal Carnage and Infinity Blade.

Plus, users will also have access to millions of unique design combinations sold by its partners including Sandboxrt, Source3 and MakerBot, which can be created using personalisation tools.

Users can also rotate their products 360 degrees to tailor their figurine from every angle. Once customers finalise their design, the products are printed in 3D and shipped out.

Steve Johnson, director of Amazon Marketplace, said: "There is a lot of passion and excitement in the culture of gaming, as well as 3D printing, and by combining these two worlds and allowing customers to design and personalise their favorite video game characters we can bring enthusiasts even closer to the games they love."

The cost of customising characters starts from $29.99 (£19), ranging to around $89.99 (£58).

Amazon launched the 3D Printed Products store last year, and the number of 3D items available has grown by more than 150 per cent.

Johnson added: “3D Printed Products on Amazon is still in its early days, and we are eager to offer customers the freedom to be designers and create one-of-a-kind items."

In other 3D printer news, analyst Context has launched its own global 3D printer market advisory service.

Context also revealed that desktop 3D Printers are expected to surpass one million units by 2018, and that the total market for printer hardware is on pace to pass $5 billion (£3.2 billion) worldwide in the next few years.
