EE has announced that it has expanded its 4G network to cover nine new cities across the UK, taking its total to 27.
The new 4G enabled locations include Amersham, Bolton, Chelmsford, Hemel Hempstead, Southend-on-Sea, Stockport, Sunderland, Sutton Coldfield and Wolverhampton.
It follows EE’s promise back in December last year that it would add a host of new towns to its speedy mobile network by March 2013 – and it would appear that the firm is working ahead of schedule.
Next in line for 4G inclusion are locations including Bradford, Coventry, Doncaster, Dudley, Leicester, Luton, Newport, Reading, Rotherham, St. Albans, Walsall, Watford and West Bromwich.
EE has been quick to brag over its 4G services, taking every available opportunity to boast its 4G coverage in 27 UK cities – and even estimates that 45 per cent of the UK’s population now live in an area where they are able to benefit from the super-speed service.
It’s unsurprising to see EE move to bolster its 4G services, given that Ofcom continues to ready its UK 4G spectrum auction process, which will allow the country’s other providers to get involved in the action.
In addition to extending its 4G network, EE has also released a number of lower cost 4G tariffs in order to make the service more attractive to potential users.
Since launching the service, EE has faced heavy criticism over its 4G pricing, with most consumers refusing to pay the high prices for the limited service.
